My favourite spots aren't always the most touristy. It depends what you want out of your holiday in Western Australia, and of course how much time you have to spare.

Quokka

I would say try and spend a day in Perth, and get down south to Cape Naturalist area where you will find a heap of great things to see and do. This is only about 3 hours south of Perth by bus. If you manage to fit this in, then maybe try and see some parts north of Perth. I do think if you can you want to try and get as far as Coral Bay or Exmouth for some of the most amazing coast in Australia. It is however about a 12 hour drive north of Perth so you will want about 2 weeks ideally and a hire car which is allowed to go off road.

More specifically, you might want to visit:
  • 1) Rottnest Island, Fremantle or the Swan Valley
  • 2) Margaret River/Dunsborough (Weekend Trip South of Perth)
  • 3) Kalbarri (need 3-7 days as travel time is about 6hours)
  • 4) Coral Bay/Exmouth (need about 2 weeks there ~13 hours drive north of Perth)
  • 5) Broome (about $400 return flight north of Perth)
